We have an exciting opportunity within the Manufacturing Services function of the Civil Aerospace Assembly & Test organisation for an individual to join the team as a Maintenance Fitter reporting to the Manufacturing Services Leaders.
Our civil aerospace business powers over 30 types of commercial aircraft. We have an outstanding reputation in all sectors of the market – wide body, narrow body and corporate and regional aircraft – and we support customers in nearly every country across the globe. From helicopters and general aviation aircraft, to business jets and the world's largest airliners, we offer the industry's broadest range of engines. In fact, over 30,000 Rolls-Royce engines are currently in service with 650 airlines, freight operators and lessors, and 4,000 corporate operators.
Civil Aerospace Operations (CAOps) are responsible for the assembly and testing of Production, Repair and Experimental engines. Within CAOps, Manufacturing Services provide the maintenance and repair function for Plant, Equipment and Facilities within the Derby estate.
What you will be doing:
The role is responsible for the mechanical maintenance, and repair of Test, Experimental and Production facilities equipment, plant, control systems and machine tools. Within the team a certain amount of temporary and permanent Mechanical Installation is also undertaken.
- You will interface effectively with Customers, Suppliers and Manufacturing Services team members to optimise the overall performance of the Assembly and Test organisation.
- Working on production equipment which is used to manufacture the aircraft engines.
- Responsible for the planned maintenance and reactive maintenance on all build line equipment and engine test facilities.
- Working with pumps, motors, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Position qualifications and requirements:
Applications are welcomed from individuals who have served a recognised maintenance or mechanical apprenticeship.
- You will be keen to work safely in a modern team based environment and possess a "can do" mentality and good problem solving skills.
- You will hold a recognised time-served apprenticeship including City and Guilds, NVQ3 or equivalent in a mechanical discipline.
- You must be able to demonstrate experience in using a variety of hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
- You will have a professional and flexible attitude with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
- You will be self-motivated with the ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a team.
- It is essential that you have an up-to-date working knowledge of health, safety and environmental procedures, including COSHH.
